Never heard of the word 'placemaking' and why it matter so much for a community venue? I didn't either, until the latest Community Venue Learning Series webinar that just happened last Thursday.
And after that, I wanted to be called a 'placemaker'. That's right... I sound like a little version of myself that looked up to the cool kids in school. But that's what happened! I was so inspired by what was being shared and recognise that to be a placemaker doesn't require too much but just to be open about the conversations happening in the community and to collaborate, while allowing others to collaborate. Grateful for the immense wisdom, knowledge and experience shared by both Dean Cracknell from Town Team Movement, as well as Mike Haynes from Future Common. That September learning series was both inspiring and thought provoking.
Some key takeaways included:
❤️ What placemaking is and how to be a placemaker.
