SpacetoCo has been recognised on the national stage as a winner at the 2021 National iAwards announced in Melbourne, Australia on the 8th of September. SpacetoCo, a West Australian-based business, is a platform that allows anyone to book spaces by the hour. Environmental sustainability, local area economies, and community connection are the beneficiaries of the innovative solution.
Co-founder and Director of SpacetoCo, Jeremy Hurst said: “Great tech innovation is never about the tech, it’s about the people it helps.” Jeremy said.
“We are particularly thrilled to be recognised by the judges for building a solution that enables greater sharing of existing spaces, that fosters human connection in the community and provides an economic lift to local area economies,” Jeremy explained.
SpacetoCo’s technology is designed and developed in Perth where the concept started. Since launching in 2017, over a million people across ANZ have accessed an underutilised space in their local community through the platform. Community halls, dance studios, tennis courts, venues, parks, and commercial kitchens are just some of the types of spaces that can be hired by the hour. Since initially partnering with the City of Vincent (the reference case for the iAwards entry), SpacetoCo has quickly grown to partner with 21 local government councils resulting in less red tape, fewer time delays for customers, and happier customers.
By winning at the National iAwards, SpacetoCo will be joining the other winners to showcase their technology on the global stage through the Asia Pacific ICT Awards (APICTA)!

Some of the excited team on the night of the win - we appealed to one of the iAwards sponsors, City of Logan, by writing a message to the council on a pizza box.
