SpacetoCo and City of Cockburn Win - Best Use of Technology at the WA Parks & Leisure Awards 2024
City of Cockburn and SpacetoCo Win Prestigious ‘Best Use of Technology’ Award
SpacetoCo, in partnership with the City of Cockburn, Western Australia, is thrilled to announce that they have won the "Best Use of Technology" award at the WA Parks and Leisure Australia Awards for Excellence 2024. The win celebrates their innovative approach to improving the utilisation of community recreation facilities while significantly reducing administration times for the council and its customers.
The award-winning project harnesses SpacetoCo's cutting-edge technology to streamline the booking process for community and sporting facilities, making it easier and faster for residents to find and book local venues. The City of Cockburn, a vibrant community with over 125,000 residents, has seen a remarkable 25% increase in facility bookings since implementing this technology. This surge in recreation bookings highlights the efficiency and ease-of-use of the system, contributing to a more active and engaged community.
City of Cockburn Mayor Logan Howlett, said, "This award is a testament to our commitment to innovation and excellence in serving our residents."
Kylie Santich, Community Venues Officer at the City of Cockburn, shared her enthusiasm for the new system:
“It’s changed our lives dramatically. Our bookings have improved, and we love that we can make changes ourselves. The system automates processes that used to take hours, freeing us to focus on more meaningful work.”
SpacetoCo, an Australian-based company, provides a unique platform that enhances the visibility of community spaces such as rooms, fields, courts, and pavilions. This platform allows for quick and easy online searches, ensuring that residents can effortlessly find and book the facilities they need. The integration of a secure payment gateway further simplifies the process, enabling instant transactions and eliminating the need for manual handling of payments and refunds.
"We are incredibly proud of our collaboration with SpacetoCo and the tangible benefits it has brought to our community," said Nathan Johnston, from Recreation Services at the City of Cockburn.
The success of this initiative not only demonstrates the power of technology in enhancing community engagement but also sets a benchmark for other local governments to follow. The City of Cockburn and SpacetoCo have shown how it is possible to create venue hire services that are accessible, efficient, and user-friendly.
