Communication, communication, communication - it all boils down to this when it comes to fostering a healthy relationship, whether it be a friendship, romance, or even...running a committee? That's right! This month's Community Venue Learning Series webinar was full of amazing insights on how to recruit and retain committee members - including what seemed like heaps of relationship advice!
We had a fireside chat with two chairs (not the inanimate kind): Jacquie Happ from Dunsborough Districts Progress Association, and our very own Jeremy Hurst who also chairs Save Perth Hills! With their extensive experience running and being in committees, they were able to give some great answers to the challenges of caring for committee members, including:
๐ The importance of learning the strengths, weaknesses (and even communication styles) of your team members
๐ Setting boundaries and expectations with your team in order to create a safe and open environment for sharing and receiving feedback
๐ Sticking with it when the going gets tough by being okay with differences of opinion
Check out the FULL RECORDING of this session and learn a thing (or ten) about attracting, engaging and retaining committee members...and maybe how to work on your relationships too!
